670 - Source Data Found

Jump to section:

General

  • Do not record information that is not bibliographically relevant
    • The 670 should justify the information used to identify and disambiguate the entity all other identifying elements
    • Remember: all fields need to be justified by information contained in the 670.
  • Beware of copy+paste, as it sometimes brings in special characters that are not accepted by OCLC.
  • Do not abbreviate! Write out “title page” instead of t.p.; “reading” instead of “r.”; “born” instead of “b.” etc.
  • Be succinct and objective. Paraphrase and summarize as convenient.

Language

  • Data must be given in romanized form.
  • If reference source is in a non-latin script, cite the work title in a remanized form and publication date.
  • ‡b should contain the name in both the non-roman and romanized forms, separated by an equal sign.
