Updating an e-Serial URL
Use this procedure to update the URL for an e-serial title, in cases where the collection it belongs to has not changed. A change of collection will usually require activation/creation of a new portfolio, and sometimes an update (e.g., closing holdings) or deactivation of the old portfolio.
- Search in the IZ by Electronic Title to locate the relevant title.
- Select Portfolio List to display all the title's portfolios, and locate the relevant one.
- Select Edit Portfolio to open the electronic portfolio editor.
- Select the Linking tab.
- Check the existing Parser parameters to determine the format needed for linking. It may be the full URL, a part of the URL, an ISSN, etc.
- Enter the new information in the box labeled Parser parameters (override). Parser parameters for e-serials generally begin with jkey= (e.g., jkey=jama)
- Note that as long as the title belongs to a collection, there is no need to adjust Proxy information settings at the portfolio level.
- While still on this screen, click the Test Access button to make sure the revised link will work.
- Click through to at least one full text article to verify access.
- If the test is successful, click on Save at top right.
Troubleshooting failed links:
- If the problem is a Remote Access error, submit a ticket to esupport. Provide the journal URL and ask that it be added to EZProxy.
- Make sure that the Parser parameter follows the correct format for the Parser. It may be helpful to compare the format on one or two other titles in the same collection whose links are working.
- Check that the Parser parameter begins with jkey=.
- If unable to determine the correct Parser parameter format, enter instead the full journal-level URL: For URL type (override), click the radio button for Static URL and enter it in the box labeled Static URL (override).
