General instructions
Follow general rules for creating authority records for personal names.
The relationship between identities must be justified in a 670 field.
When using a 663 note (see instructions bellow), there should be corresponding 500 fields with a $w coded nnnc.
Do not add a 368 field to indicate that the name is a pseudonym.
Add a local 946 field with "Pseudonym" for all and any records for pseudonymous identities.
Treat the pseudonym and the "real" identity as two separate identities. Do not carry over biographical information of the "real" identity when describing the pseudonym (like dates or locations associated to the person).
If available, use biographical information for the pseudonym even if it differes from that of the "real" identity.
Example: 046 ## ǂf 1936 ǂ2 edtf 100 1# $a Ives, Gordon Langley, ǂd 1936- 370 ## $a Portsmouth (England) ǂ2 naf 500 1# ǂw r ǂi Real identity: ǂa Dodge, Jim 670 ## $a Conversations with Bigfoot, 1998: ǂb page 3 (Gordon Langley Ives; born 1936 in Portsmouth, England) 670 ## $a Cryptomundo WWW site, June 28, 2018 ǂb (Jim Dodge is the real author of Conversations with Bigfoot) 046 ## ǂf 1945 ǂ2 edtf 100 1# $a Dodge, Jim 370 ## $a Santa Rosa (Calif.) ǂ2 naf 500 1# ǂw r ǂi Alternate identity: ǂa Ives, Gordon Langley, ǂd 1936- 670 ## $a Cryptomundo WWW site, June 28, 2018 ǂb (Jim Dodge is the real author of Conversations with Bigfoot) 670 ## $a Wikipedia, June 28, 2018 ǂb (Jim Dodge, born 1945 in Santa Rosa, California) |
If the preferred name of a pseudonym conflicts with another name, use associated profession, occupation, or other designation in $c like (Pseudonym), or dates like period of activity in $d in the access point to make each entity unique. Do not use birth/death dates of the "real" identity.
Example: 100 1# $a Yan, Zhexi, ǂd 1909-1993 500 1# ǂw r ǂi Alternate identity: ǂa Yan, Kuan ǂc (Song writer) 670 0# $a Bai du bai ke WWW site, September 4, 2018 ǂb (严折西 = Yan Zhexi; born in She Xian, Anhui Province, China in Febuary 1909 and died December 31, 1993; songwriter, cartoonist; member of Shanghai Artists Association, or Shanghai Shi mei shu jia xie hui; illustrated children's literature; wrote songs under his pen name 严宽 = Yan Kuan) 100 1# $a Yan, Kuan ǂc (Song writer) [not Yan, Kuan, ǂd 1909-1993] 500 1# ǂw r ǂi Real identity: ǂa Yan, Zhexi, ǂd 1909-1993 670 ## $a Bai du bai ke WWW site, September 4, 2018 ǂb (严折西 = Yan Zhexi; wrote songs under his pen name 严宽 = Yan Kuan) |
