Metadata Editor (MDE)

The Metadata Editor is the principal cataloging tool in Alma. It can be launched in three ways.

1 From search results

A search result from the Persistent search box can be brought/pushed into the MDE by buttons variously named Edit, Edit Record, Push to MDE, and Push Selected to MDE.

2 From the MDE icon

The MDE can be toggled on and off by the Show Metadata Editor icon located near the bottom of the vertical menu bar or the keyboard shortcut Alt + M

3 From the Main Menu

It can also be opened from the vertical menu bar Resources > Cataloging > Open Metadata Editor
