Sync Shortcut Keys Between Macro Books and Connexion Client
Configuration
1. Download keymap files to the OCLC profile folder
This is the destination location of the files -
C:\Users\[your user ID]\AppData\Roaming\OCLC\Connex\Profiles\MyProfile\
First, fill in your user ID in the path
Second, paste the path to the address bar of File Explorer and open the folder
Third, save the two keymap files (last modified 07/02/2021) by Right-click > Save link as... to the destination location
- Sync-macro.Keymap.xml
- AppExclusions.Keymap.xml
These two files store the default keystrokes and/or any keystroke shortcuts you assign or reassign. Your assignments always override any existing default keystrokes.
2. Configure Connexion Keymaps
Make Sync-macro.Keymap.xml your default keymap for inputting characters by selecting Tools >> Keymaps in Connexion
|
3. Contingent
If you have made customizations to the macro book to resolve conflicts between HotKeys and keyboard shortcuts on your PC, you can assign the same Keys in Connexion as the HotKeys you have customized in the macro book.
1) In Characters box, select the character/symbol whose shortcut key you need to change 2) Select (highlight) its Current Shortcut Key 3) Press Unassign and then Yes in the alert window to confirm 4) Press the shortcut key you wish to assign to the character 5) Press Assign Your custom key now appears in the Current Shortcut Keys box 6) Press OK You have customized the shortcut key of the diacritic/symbol of your choice. |
Tip for preserving the keymaps
When you are happy with the shortcut keys, archive a copy of Sync-macro.Keymap.xml and AppExclusions.Keymap.xml in a location that will not be affected by the re-installation of Connexion Clients and computer upgrading.
If you accidentally press the Reset button in Keymaps or if you switch to a new computer, you will copy them back to -
C:\Users\[your user ID]\AppData\Roaming\OCLC\Connex\Profiles\MyProfile\
and save the trouble of re-mapping.
