Bound Volumes
- Place the barcodes as directed below, avoid covering the title if possible.
- Place the barcode on the front cover* in the upper left corner. Do not cover a Princeton call number or location label already present on the item. Place the barcode as close to the upper left corner as possible, leaving a little space between the label border and the edge and spine of the book. If a label in the upper left corner leaves no space for a barcode above it, place the barcode beside the label, close to the top of the book.
- On books that read right-to-left, place the duplicate barcode in the upper left corner of the back cover.
Exceptions:
Bound volumes for Dixon: the barcode should be placed on the jacket.
For bound volumes for SA with covers made from exotic material (leather, vellum, metal, etc.), or covers that are themselves a work of art such asa full-cover reproduction of a painting, place the barcode on the page facing the t.p. verso (the old-fashioned way). If the cover is merely illustrated and includes blank space and/or text, place the barcode on the cover. If in doubt, place the barcode on the page facing the t.p. verso.
