ERM Workflow: Ordering an Individual E-Book from Gobi
ERM Workflow: Ordering an Individual E-Book from Gobi
Scenario: Use this workflow if you are purchasing an individual E-Book from GOBI.
Description: An E-Book is called a "portfolio" in Alma. Access is granted at the title-level.
Required Alma roles: Electronic Inventory Operator; Purchasing Operator
Alma Glossary can be found HERE.
Workflow:
- E-Book request is received
- You will need vendor information, funding information, details about the E-Book (ISBN, etc.), and details about the purchase model (subscription vs. perpetual access)
- Confirm that the desired E-Book and licensing model is available in Gobi, and that the price is acceptable to the person who placed the order
- Place the order in Gobi
- An Alma Import Profile will import the MARC record from Gobi into Alma and create a PO Line for it, so there is no need to perform work in Alma
- The E-Book will be available to patrons after the Import Profile runs
- EDI invoicing is established with Gobi, so you do not need to submit an invoice to Finance
NOTE: If you receive a request for a single eBook that exceeds $5,000, please email Joe Marciniak (Jm110@princeton.edu) before completing the purchase in Gobi.
