Criteria for inclusion
General criteria for inclusion of e-serials in the catalog:
- Content must be full text, not just abstracts or tables of contents, and not just selected issues/sections. (A very few exceptions have been made.)
- Access must be expected to be somewhat stable and ongoing, and a stable URL must be available.
- Large collections of titles that do not yet appear in the Ex Libris Central KnowledgeBase (CKB) are considered on a case-by-case basis to determine whether adding records for the individual titles is practicable. Local e-collections may be created in Alma in cases where title lists, including coverage information and URLs, are available.
PAST PRACTICE: Formerly, it was also required that every title be "selected" — specifically ordered, or included with a print subscription, or part of a subscribed package. Free titles were only included upon request by a selector. This requirement no longer applies; titles that appear in various free collections in the CKB are automatically activated without review.
