Authorities Committee

Charge:

The Authorities Committee will have responsibility for Princeton’s contributions to the Program for Cooperative Cataloging's (PCC) Name Authority Cooperative (NACO) and Subject Authority Cooperative (SACO). The committee will provide training, reminders, and adjust local practices as needed.

Ongoing work:

• Keep current of national and international developments in authority work
• Review and produce authority records created by PUL for personal names, corporate names, conference names, series, uniform titles, name-titles, and name-title-series
• Maintain quality control of headings in the catalog
• Investigate and resolve problems with authority records, and with headings in the database
• Create, update and maintain documentation relating to authority work
• Provide training to Princeton catalogers and support staff
