Search Results: Filter and Customization
Filter search results
You can filter search results using the facets in the left pane of the search results. The available facets depend on the type of search and the items in the search results.
Sort search results
By default, search results are sorted by relevancy. For some search types, you can change the sort using the Sort by and Secondary Sort by drop-down lists (where Asc=ascending and Desc=descending).
Your choice will be remembered by Alma and applied to your future searches of the same Search type. For example, if you have conducted a search for Physical titles and sorted the results by Publication Date in the descending order, then your future Physical titles searches will display the results by that same order. This choice of your is particular to Physical titles. You can set your preferred sorting orders for other search types separately. |
Customize the search results display
1 Enable the expanded view (11)
If you often need to see inventory information in the search results view, enable the expanded view for Physical or Electronic or all. Otherwise you will need to click on the double down caret icon
under individual records to see the the snapshot view of the inventory list.2 Managing column display (13)
(Video Tutorial: Manage column display
)You see different sets of fields displayed in the search results view depending on the Search type. The display includes both metadata from bib/holdings/item records and actions, such as editing the record or Push to MDE.
The list of visible fields is pre-selected by Alma, but you can customize which fields to appear and in what order by the Manage column display option in the results page.
The feature allows you to -
- Select fields and actions most important to your work
- Rearrange them in the most convenient order when search results are pulled up
- Change the number of columns in which information about the resource appears (the default is three columns)
The same gear icon is available in the List of Holdings and the List of Items (Search Results: A Dissected View no. 20-21), allowing you to select and deselect columns to display.
