Video Demonstration
Supported File Formats
When you add items to set from a file, supported file formats include--
text file (.txt or .csv), encoded as UTF-8
Excel file (.xls or .xlsx)
For the data to be read, the file must have the correct Header at the top of the column, for instance, MMS ID and not "MMS Id" or "MMS_ID"
If the Excel file has more than one column, it utilizes the first column of data that has a valid header type. All other information in the file is disregarded.
Pros and Cons of the Method
Cons
This method requires certain Alma permissions and takes multiple steps
Pros
You have two choices for data formats: XML and Binary
In comparison with the MarcEdit “Batch Search” method, it takes less time for a large number of MMSIDs (for example, over 500).
It downloads the exact bib records specified by your list of MMSIDs, and does not bringing in extra records associated by 773/774, or fields 852/866 from the holdings records.
Method 2: MarcEdit “Batch Search”
See Cataloging and Inventory Management > https://pul-confluence.atlassian.net/wiki/x/qgEb
You may use the speed of 100 bib records per minute to get a rough estimate of how much time you need for downloading based on a batch of MMSIDs.
