About Screenshots

This documentation site has included many screenshots to provide a quick orientation to users new to Alma. However, it is crucially important to know that you must consult the screenshots with flexibility and the spirit of exploration.

Alma monthly release

Ex Libris releases development updates on a monthly basis. The graphical user interface can change in big and small ways. As an example, the Metadata Editor has changed significantly from the old one.

User role

We are each assigned a user role and its associated privileges that support our job tasks. Different roles have access to different Alma components, determining not only which pages a user can access, but often the fields, options, jobs, or actions that the user can perform on these pages. Unless your role and that of the trainers are identical, you will see different components in Alma.

Personal customization

Alma allows users to customize the display of menu options, metadata fields elements, and action items to suit their job tasks. You can turn on or off the display of elements and re-order them, resulting in variations among everybody's Alma screen.

Screen resolution

The display of menu options is responsive to computer screen resolution. With a higher resolution, more elements fit in the screen but each appearing in a smaller size.

If you zoom in your web browser, icons and buttons enlarge in size, squeezing those towards the end out of view. You can find them by clicking the three-dot icon.
