With most serials, the title proper is itself the preferred title (and, absent a creator) the authorized access point. But when the authorized access point [title proper] for a serial work being cataloged is found to be identical to an access point [the title proper] already in the catalog that represents another work, something must be added to the access point to distinguish it. CONSER does not specify a preference in the choice of qualifier and discourages using theĀ corporate body as qualifier except when the title proper consists solely of very general words indicating the type publication of periodicity as well as when the place has already been used as a qualifier for another work.
