Fixed-Length and Leader

There is the coding in the Fixed Data fields for Form (of the resource being described) and Orig (applicable for describing the original form of the work if known).  Each of these fields are coded 0.

There is the coding for the Form of or Type of Computer File (006) and the Physical Description Field (007). For MARC field 006, CONSER only requires m (computer file) in the first character position and o (online resource) in the second character position although many records will also have d (data) in the third character position.  For MARC field 007, CONSER only requires “c” (electronic resource computer file) in the first character position (subfield a) and “r” (remote resource) in the second position or subfield b).

If there is a print version of the resource with an ISSN in addition to the online version, CONSER guidelines is to include the print ISSN in subfield y. 

Publication information (MARC field 264)

Following the Provider-Neutral Model, CONSER instructs to record the first named place and publisher in the first or earliest available issue online. The place/publisher should be applicable to all online manifestations and thus, should not reflect a particular digitizer or provider of an aggregation. In addition to all the core, core if, and other elements applicable for describing print serials, there are additional elements and specifications uniquely applicable for describing remote access electronic serials according to CONSER.
