Unit Charge
The Assessment and User Experience unit leads, designs, and participates in the collection, analysis, and documentation of quantitative and qualitative assessment data which will help the library make informed, data-driven decisions about services and priorities. They will coordinate the work of library colleagues engaged in improving the user experience while helping to create a culture that leverages data to make service improvements.
Types of Work
- Data, Statistics, and Reporting
Responsible for documenting and reporting of data and statistics gathered by the Library. Compiles reports such as ARL and ACRL. Recommends and collaborates on methodology, impact metrics, collection strategies, and technology for data gathering.
- Design and Research Projects
Designs, conducts, reports user research projects. Projects can occur at any time in the design thinking process: empathize, ideate, prototype, design, test.
- Collaboration and Consultations
Provides a user experience perspective as members of working groups and committees either as permanent members or on a consultation basis. Consultations are also welcomed with individuals with questions or need assistance with an assessment or research project.
- UX Culture, Tools, and Methodologies
Works to cultivate a user and data-driven culture at the Library. Creates and maintains resources, tools, products, templates, and training materials. Collaborates with library and external stakeholders to align assessment and user experience work with mission, vision, and EDI goals. Communicates changes and improvements based upon assessment and user experience.
