Create new items for existing bibliographic records MMS Match
Summary
This is an import profile that will create items for any bibliographic record in an arbitrary location with an arbitrary item type.
The only match point is the 001 field (the MMS ID). This profile does nothing to the bib record; it only adds items.
The input file is a CSV, with one line per item.
Results
One item is created per line. See below for mandatory elements.
If a mandatory element is not included, the load will fail.
Items in existing locations will be added to the existing holdings. Items in a new location will have a new holding created.
Sample File
See for a template with the column headers. If a field is not used for a specific row, leave it empty. Do not remove the commas between empty elements. Before submitting, MAKE SURE the 001 field is '001'. CSV editors such as Excel will convert the 001 to an integer, making the header value '1' instead of '001'.
A text file (.txt) with first line "001,949$b,949$c,949$d,949$e,949$p" and lines of comma-separated values will also work.
Input Data
Input data | Item field | Default, if not supplied |
|
|---|---|---|---|
n/a | Status | "Item in place" | All newly created items will automatically be "In Place". If the items are not yet available, make sure to change the item status to the appropriate work order status. |
n/a | Material Type | Book | If you need a type other than Book, contact the Alma team to create a new profile, or use the Change Physical Items job after the job runs if you do not need to use a different material type frequently. |
001 | MMS ID | none | Mandatory. This is the match point for the loader. An item will not be created if there is nothing in the 001. |
949$b | Library Code | none | Mandatory. An item will not be created if there is nothing in the 949$b. |
949$c | Location Code | none | Mandatory. An item will not be created if there is nothing in the 949$c. |
949$d | Item Policy | Gen | Not mandatory. Put the Item Policy code in 949$d if anything other than Gen is needed. If an incorrect code is provided, the Item Policy will be Gen. |
949$e | Enum A | none | Not mandatory. |
949$p | Barcode | none | Not mandatory. It is recommended to include a barcode if possible for ease of manipulating the items after the load, but optional. |
